Description of Project:
This is a heavy duty winch built out of real metal. (not like store bought winches made of sheet metal pressed and formed) The winch is 12 inches long, 5 inches wide and about 16 inches tall with the handle pointing strait up. The handle can be folded in by removing one bolt making for easier storage. This winch can hold about 30 feet of 1/4" cable and has been tested on full sized pick-ups stuck on thick mud. (worked well). Using a pulley block can double the pulling strength. This project requires fairly accurate metal working skills and touches on most aspects of metalworking found in a high school metal working shop.
